Description

I was bored and can't come up with anything to draw so I decided to color the first sketch I ever drew of Ula. I think it came out pretty good, now that I FINALLY got with it and decided to look at a few tutorials to figure out what the heck I was doing wrong with shading. XD I ended up making her hair a lot more bushy than it is in this sketch.

This piece has an interesting style, kind of like a kid-cartoon style but at the same time more mature. (Somehow Charlie Brown comes to mind, I'm not sure why.) The color palette you used works well together, between the browns (hair and skin) and gold. For improvement, perhaps you could go for different angles and lighting for a portrait. That's another one: shading and highlighting. You've got a good start on her skin, now try it more with her hair; identify individual tangles and strands of hair and the shine on it. I can still appreciate the outline you've done here, I have some trouble with making hair look natural, especially wavy or curly hair. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/b/b…" width="15" height="15" alt=":D" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="366" title=":D (Big Grin)"/>
